I have a Panasonic Toughbook CF-T8. I just did a fresh install of Microsoft Windows 7 and removed Panasonic's Version of Windows 7. I just finished installing all of the required updates. I started to go through the settings and noticed that there were some drivers missing. Help me please! I have been researching for hours and no luck yet.

PCI Simple Communications Controller - (From Device Manager) The drivers for this device are not installed -- code 28

Hardware IDs:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2A44&SUBSYS_833810F7&REV_07
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2A44&SUBSYS_833810F7
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2A44&CC_078000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2A44&CC_0780

Unknown Device - (From Device Manager) Code 28, on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System,

Hardware IDs:

ACPI\MAT0019
*MAT0019

Unknown Device - (From Device Manager) Code 28, on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System,

Hardware IDs:

ACPI\MAT0021

This is so frustrating!!!! I would like a solution somehow!! :(

You need Intel AMT driver for that. Either look for it directly on intel support pages, or on your laptop support page:

http://www.panasonic.com/business/toughbook/computer-support-search-downloads.asp

Note that this page has no drivers for Win7, but one for Vista will most likely work just fine. Also, make sure the driver matches 32 or 64bit, depending on your exact windows version.

I would also like to note that you can safely disable this thing and you won't miss anything. According to Intel, "
this driver enables the remote display of managed client's user interface through management console and emulates serial communication over a standard network connection." Hardly a deal breaker for most people.

Panasonic does have a Windows 7 Driver for the AMT. I found it. Anyhow, that fixed 1 driver - the PCI Driver. What about the Unknown Devices? I can't seem to figure out what it is wanting!? Thanks for your help herrwizo!!

Ok, so I did some searching on Unknown Devices for Windows 7 and I found out how to find out what drivers are needed for Unknown Devices. Use the Hardware ID as the search term and something should be found telling what that hardware piece is for and what driver is needed. So, for the ACPI\MAT0019, it needed the Hot Keys Driver. For the ACPI\MAT0021, it needed the Panasonic Misc. Driver. I just have to figure out how to install the drivers. Thanks for your help again, herrwizo! Glad that you could at least assist in getting the PCI Driver fixed!!
