Hello, I have a Intel Core 2 QUAD (Q6600) CPU and I recently heard something about overclocking it which I'm kind of interested in but I'm pretty new to this overclocking stuff, I recently searched up some videos on it and I'm getting a bit of good and bad outcomes, some saying a computer could possible only run with overclock for a few hours before crashing, and others saying it'd make your computer run faster or whatever. Honestly I'm lost. Can someone clear it up for me? As in telling me if my computer could do overclocking and if so, how well and up to what, and also if so how to do it with my computer specs, it would be greatly appreciated.

Solution
You need to have a good custom cooler to be able to overclock it. Else it'll get too hot and shut down.

For your PC, with a GT640, it's a waste of time overclocking your CPU. Your graphics card is the bottleneck in your PC
