Hi there,

so recently I got this weird problem. It started about 3 weeks ago when my computer suddenly froze during a game, of course I hard rebooted it, as later it just ran smoothly. Some days later, it crashed again, but this time with a blue screen, can't remember which one, then again I rebooted it and everything was fine.

So during the last few days, I got this issue where when i first start-up my computer and launch a game (on rare occasions even while browsing), my PC would crash after some seconds and leaving my screen with black, white and violets stripes, which I assume is my wallpaper scattered all over the screen.

The only possibility to get my PC started again would be to hard reboot, but once started up again, my PC becomes really slow, although it wouldnt crash anymore, everything takes almost an eternity to load and games are somewhat laggy. Also my fan starts to spin quite loudly.

Looking at my task manager, the avaiable physical Memory dropped from 6 to 3 GB whereas the hardware reserved jumped from 1 to 3 GB.

I'm not a computer expert, so I'd rather avoid any tweaking around my hardware.

Thanks in advance.

Ah, well that explains a lot. You'll most definitely need to clean your PC. I can only...

Hmm, if you got a blue screen of death your certainly having a lot of hardware issues. You might be overheating for starters, it seems like one of your ram sticks is leaking also, what is the ram set up? I'm guessing a 4 GB and a 2 GB?

Seems like a whole lot of issues combined into one.

The blue screen issue is somewhat resolved I guess since I'm not getting it anymore, but instead my PC just freezes without a warning.

My PC is actually quite old about 6 years now, it was pre-made so I haven't opened the case in all those years even once.
I actually had a similar experience before on this computer years ago, but that was resolved with formatting my hard disk and a fresh install, that is why I was thinking that it could be at least be a software problem to avoid deleting everything again.

So does this mean due to the overheating, my PC is somewhat transfering the RAM it can't handle to the hardware reserved memory?

Ah, well that explains a lot. You'll most definitely need to clean your PC. I can only imagine how much dust is clogged up in there after several years. Hopefully that will resolve most of the overheating symptoms.

Here's a guide; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5K02P5I8BsE

Alright I'll definately give it a shot.
Thanks for the video. But seriously, I never heard of air in a can. I always thought air had only a price in a bag of potatoe chips.

Thank you.
