Hi everyone and thanks so much for reading/helping :)

I purchased a brand new HP Desktop PC the other day, the internet (wireless) is extremely slow and unusable on it and occasionally it cuts out al together. However the internet speeds on my laptop, iPad and nexus7 which are connected to the same wireless internet are all perfectly fine. Turning these other devices off produces no change in internet speed on the PC.

My specs are:
Windows 8.1 64bit
AMD A10-6700 APU 3.7GHz
6GB RAM
Motherboard HP 500-400na
Network adapters:
Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller
Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi Adapter

I have read through many similar posts on this and other websites and tried everything to no avail.
Suggestions in other threads that I have tried include:

Reinstalling network drivers (by selecting uninstall on both and rebooting the PC)

Device Manager>Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller>properties>advanced>speed and duplex to 100 halfduplex

Device Manager>both adapters>properties>power management>unchecked "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" box

Device Manager>Show Hidden Devices>Disabled all entries except the entries related to wireless adapter

Network Connections>WiFi>properties>disabled all except: Client for Microsoft Networks, File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks, QoS Packet Scheduler, Link-Layer Topology Discovery Mapper I/O Driver, Link-Layer Topology Discovery Responder, IPv6 and IPv4

Another user with the same problem said this:
"Digging around in the Driver settings I saw something that caught my eye; the "802.11n channel width for 2.4Ghz" was set to "20 mhz only". I set this to auto, the card disconnected and reconnected and instantly the DL speeds went from 40Kb to 1Mbps." but I can't find that option in my adapters' properties.

Another user said:
"Under wi-fi adapter properties / advanced / I found '' roaming sensitivity '', set this to highest and my signal nearly tripled" Another post I read said to set roaming sensitivity to low or disable, I've tried both with no luck.

Many people with the same problem solve it by uninstalling something called AMD Quick Stream but it doesn't appear in my programs list so I assume I don't have it.

I appreciate any and all help and suggestions so much, thank you.

Hi there,

Did you check the priority between the WIFI and LAN connection ? If you use WIFI and LAN together.
At my work I had WIFI as Highest priority and connection went always bad ! Disabling WIFI was a temporary the solution until I changed the Priority.

Also: did you check the 2 (or 3) connections on the Network-card (inside the laptop) if the colors are connected to the right connection-point ?

Cheers, Louise.

Hi,
goto the lan adapters (type: ncpa.cpl), if there is no menu press: Alt-key.
When menu shows up click "advanced" and then "advanced settings".
there you can set the priority (top one is highest pty). With the green arrows you can lower or change it.

Maybe something else you might find there taking higher pty ?

check also in the task manager the process-tab (processes from all users) and network-tab for strange behavior.
Maybe a screenshot would be ok (use paint to remove some private-stuff).

Cheers, Louise.
