Hi,

I have my samsung xp941 m.2 (4xPCIe {I think, don't know were to check to make sure all 4 PCIe lanes are active}) Drive set as my primary SSD with Windows 8.1 installed. Ran Samsung magic (from another drive) to test performance and it shows:-

Sequential Read 1182 (MB/s)
Sequential Write 862 (MB/s)
Random Read (IOPS) 109664
Random write (IOPS) 66899

Then my F drive which is a recently formatted Samsung 850 EVO with Samsung Magic installed shows:-

Sequential Read 538 (MB/s)
Sequential Write 518 (MB/s)
Random Read (IOPS) 92283
Random Write (IOPS) 83010

I have over provisioning (10%) on the 850 as well as OS Optimization set to Maximum Performance. I do not have RAPID enabled though.

Does that look ok/normal to you guys?

Should I be expecting faster reads?

Right from Samsung:

Performance* Sequential Read Max. 540 MB/s
Sequential Write** Max. 520 MB/s
4KB Random Read (QD1) Max. 10,000 IOPS
4KB Random Write (QD1) Max. 40,000 IOPS
4KB Random Read (QD32) Max. 98,000 IOPS(500GB/1TB)
Max. 97,000 IOPS(250GB)
Max. 94,000 IOPS(120GB)
4KB Random Write (QD32) Max. 90,000 IOPS(500GB/1TB)
Max. 88,000 IOPS(120GB/250GB)

yes, i have to leave my pc switched on 24/7 plus horrible high pitch noise with 2 different mice. My rig is in my sig, but the motherboard is junk. Asrock can go swing.
