Hi All,

I am looking to upgrade my intel quadcore processor to an i5 4th gen, could you please suggest so good intel i5-4th gen processors for it along with a good gaming motherboard. I have thoughts on i5-4440. Since I am upgrading I already have Crossair Vengeance 8gb(4x4) ram sticks, GTX 750-ti oc (Asus) and a CM power supply of 550watts . Thank You for the suggestions in advance :) (Apologies on my English)

This xeon is basically an i7 4790 wihtout the built in gpu. It has overclocking too.

Many thanks on the quick reply but I mostly want to stick with the i5-series and the possibility of overclocking will my power supply of 550 watts would be able to handle it ? Also now a days many games are more core specify than much on the graphic card won't the xeno have a lag with it ? ( Apologies on such a noob question)

How about the normal non-k series Intel Core i5-4690 do if I don't wanna do overclocking?

Since I have a limited amount of resources I will not be planning on SLI very soon so its mostly a single graphics card which I will be using.

Games run on your gtx 750ti. The xeon simply has no hd graphics. Think of it as an i7 4790.

Mostly since I am using the build for my personal home use, yes I am more into gaming but sometimes do use it as an entertainment system. Just did a check on the availability check of Xeon processor in India (I reside in India) and its not available yet :(

If this is just for gaming I would get an i3, sell your current gpu and buy a gtx 960 or 970 even.

You would go from playing games on medium to playing them on very high or even ultra.

It sounds like you arnt in the United states. But if I'm wrong and you are, Newegg.com has a combo deal today only for $299 (and a -20 rebate extra!) that includes a faster i5, gaming mobo AND the 1866 8GB of ram. Use your components that you have already for the rest (and perhaps by a cheap case/PSU to put your old stuff in for a spare internet machine) and there you go. Less than your stated budget.

Yes you are right I am not from the States, I wish they had such deals in India as well :( but thanks for the help though!

You are right, but I just read couple threads over the forum and this overclocking of CPU makes sense. I have a couple of questions if you could help answer them :
1.) I have a 550watt CM power supply and a CM-Hyper212 cooling system if I do overclock my CPU will these two satisfy the needs?
2.) What is the Ideal Ghz and voltage to be kept for 24/7 overclocked cpu (Intel-I5 4670k or Intel-i5 4690K)?

I am little off topic but want to get an oversight on this as well if it comes to overclocking.

1. Depends on the psu. Exact model? hyper 212 yeah, it's enough.
2. Get the 4690k, no point in going with the 4670k atm. Depends on your cpu really, every cpu is different. About 4-4.5ghz should be acceptable. Don't overclock to that level at first, you have to be very careful. I recommend you watch linustechtips video on overclocking the devil canyons (it's on youtube).
