yesterday I bought a used mainboard, then I checked the BIOS and hard drive was detected, but when I cleared the CMOS setting so that the hard drive was not detected.
then I tried to install a hard drive with windows already installed in it.
but still, the hard drive is not detected. what should i do?

Hey there, Harry!

This is very unfortunate. I'd suggest you to try the drive in another SATA port on the motherboard, maybe switch the SATA cable as well.
If the drive was installed on another computer or a different motherboard, it most probably won't detect the OS as present.
The operating system communicates with the motherboard, rather than the storage (HDD). However, it should still be detected as present in BIOS.
Another thing you can try is checking the motherboard manufacturer's website for any updates on the mobo firmware or the BIOS drivers.

Keep me posted! :) Hope this helps.
