Is it possible to remove Aero from Win8.1 or get Basic Theme ?

I'm wondering is there a way to lower vram usage while idling ? I was always using Basic Theme in Win7 even with current specs, but now I'm wondering about 8.1 aero and I cant find anything related to that.

It's highly unlikely for any application to use more than 3 GB of VRAM at 1080p. Even if it does, lowering texture details is all you have to do to fix it. Reinstalling your OS is going to bring on negligible performance benefits.

Well some games actually hits 3.5gb limit, I can force that limit over with MSAA4/8x to 4GB but I get performance drop which is obvious and expected for this gpu. But in near future when more gpu vram demanding games come up and vram actually hits performances I think that those ~200mb's before game get access into that slower 0.5gb partition will be noticable.
