I am looking to upgrade my aging Athlon 640 and I came across Xeon E3 1230 tray processor (SB is really old now, I know, but I am upgrading from an inferior processor) costing lesser than i5 4440 (original choice). Is this a good choice considering I am going to be using my computer only for gaming?
A few things to consider:
1. As I am budget constrained, please suggest alternatives in the same price range, if any.
2. I would probably pair it with Biostar H77U3 socket 1155.
3. My current GPU is GTX 660. I've no plans of upgrading as I feel its plenty for my resolution 1600x900.
