My Laptop is a brand new HP Pavilion 15t-n200 with all the trimmings:
I can't stand all the "extra productivity software" they install on them, so I re-built Win 7 when I received it.
This past week, I was using WiFi, and I eventually plugged into my ethernet drop because I needed to do some downloading. When I plugged in the cord, Win 7 did nothing. Nothing, as in:
To troubleshoot, I did as follows (wireless was turned off entire time):
So, I am at a loss regarding what the problem is aside from the network card having died......? Thank God the wireless card still works, but this laptop is less than a year old, and the NIC has died? C'mon.....somebody please help me!!!
Thank you so much in advance!!! I've given up on HP to help.
Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit)
4th generation Intel Core i5-4200U Processor + Intel HD Graphics
8GB DDR3 System Memory (1 Dimm)
750GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive
802.11 b/g/n WLAN
And some other stuff
I can't stand all the "extra productivity software" they install on them, so I re-built Win 7 when I received it.
This past week, I was using WiFi, and I eventually plugged into my ethernet drop because I needed to do some downloading. When I plugged in the cord, Win 7 did nothing. Nothing, as in:
No little swirling blue circle over the network icon in the system tray
No lights coming from the ethernet cord plugged into the port (it is not the ethernet patch cable, I already ruled that out).
Tried ipconfig /release, then /renew
To troubleshoot, I did as follows (wireless was turned off entire time):
Went into Network Adapters, and Disabled/Enabled the LAN icon (did nothing)
Tried to "repair" option from Windows, which was a huge joke....it suggested that I was trying to plug the ethernet cord into a phone jack modem......silly Windows troubleshooting....
Went into Device Manager - no yellow signs or problems indicated
Went into Device Manager to update the drivers - said I had the latest
Went into Device Manager and uninstalled the driver all-together, then re-ran the driver software trying the "repair" option - no change, everything still looked fine but no connection or warnings or lights blinking
Went into Device Manager and uninstalled the driver all-together, then re-ran the driver software, did a complete uninstall, then did a complete reinstall of the driver - again, no change
So, I am at a loss regarding what the problem is aside from the network card having died......? Thank God the wireless card still works, but this laptop is less than a year old, and the NIC has died? C'mon.....somebody please help me!!!
