im at my wits end on this issue. My PC recently started shutting down with no warning, doesn't reboot itself either. This only happens when i play battlefield 4(or CTE) and dragon age inquisition. I have since uninstalled bf4 and tried reinstalling it only to have my PC shut down again in middle of downloading. It has also on occasion shut down on me while using vlc streamer. I don't know if this is some weird network issue perhaps? I first thought it was my SSD so I reinstalled windows, I then tried installing windows on my HDD, I tried removing ram, my PC still keeps shutting down. My temps are fine I have the case in a open ventilated area, I even have the case open at this point. I thought it my be the psu but I doubt the issue seems almost too specific. I can play max Payne 3, metal gear solid, borderlands pre sequel, and download all sorts of big files about 1gb or more in size with no problem. I can't see my to figure out what the trigger truly is and how to fix it.

My rig:
Win 8.1
R9 290x
16gb ram
Amd fx8350
Asus M5A99 Evo r2.0
Ocz mod stream pro 80 plus 700w power supply
1tb to toshiba HDD
120gb Kingston SSD

When you say your temps are fine, how hot are we talking? If the cooler isn't mounted properly then no amount of ventilation is gonna help.

Try running your system with 1 RAM stick. Download OCCZ and run a stress test with one RAM stick and see if the system is stable. You could also try downloading your games with one RAM.

If your temps really are fine, and it still doesn't work with only 1 RAM stick, then we have narrowed it down to PSU or motherboard. If it comes that far, I think it's more likely to be a PSU problem.
