hey there guys im planning to build my first gaming computer in the next few weeks. Iv been reading so much it has been a bit overwhelming trying to figure out what everything means. So im here to see what parts you guys would buy with the same budget.

So my budget is between 2k-2.5k

I have my TV and my Monitor hooked up to my desktop.

I mostly play games on my computer but i also like to watch movies and listen to music.

My biggest hurdle in getting started has been trying to figure out what Motherboard to buy.

Also while i am not 100% set on it i would like to use 1 GPU (so higher tier preferred)

I already have a windows 7 OS disc i can use so i do not need to spend money on that.

With that in mind what would you guys build?

Also what are some good websites to buy computer parts from other then the obvious popular ones. (If any)

Thanks ahead of time guys. From my past experiences here the community is awesome so if you take time to chip in i do really appreciate it.

Solution
Budget of 2k-2.5K is overkill for gaming, unless you are aiming for 4K resolution. For 1080p, there is not a single reason to go higher than this:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($219.95 @ SuperBiiz)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($28.75 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: ASRock Z97 Extreme3 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($104.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill Sniper Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($139.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Crucial MX100 256GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($96.49 @ Newegg)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB...

In fact, this build has 16GB included only because your budget is so generous and not an issue. 8GB is all that is required for gaming at the moment. Still, it is better to be future proof ;)

Oh wow thanks that is definitely something to think about.

I have set the money aside specifically for the purpose of building this computer so while this might not make much sense for most people i do kind of want to put the extra cash into this pc. Maybe a different case and the 980 gtx?? what do you think?
