Hey, I have a GTX 760 with 2 screens extended desktop:

main screen -> 23" monitor (VGA)
secondary screen -> 32" LED TV (HDMI)

Problem is every time I turn on/off the TV, my main screen resets, it goes black for a seconds and all my windows there that are maximized lose that status, which is really annoying.
Let me show it with some images

before: http://s15.postimg.org/9fko77wzv/image.jpg
after: http://s2.postimg.org/v195fd9cp/image.jpg

As you can see in the last image the window is still filling most of the screen but it is not really maximized anymore.

I think this is a normal behavior when you plug or unplug the cable, but I'm not doing that, it shouldn't happen by just turning on or off the 2nd screen.

Any idea how to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Use "Windows button" + "p" and select the optimal setup every time you use the TV or vice versa. I have a 24" ASUS 16:10 monitor and a 48" 16:9 Philips TV connected to my GTX 970 - when switching with the Windows shortcut, everything works correctly.

Thank you, unfortunately that doesn't work for me, I still face the same problem.

UPDATE:
With the 2 screens ON I just unplugged and re-plugged the HDMI cable (to the TV), then what chriscornell suggested started working.
But when I turn off the TV the problem starts again

Some thing I notice and that may be related is in the nvidia control panel the main screen (23" monitor) is identified as 2, and the TV (secondary screen) as 1.
Pressing windows+p and selecting "computer only" it lets the TV, and "projector only" the monitor, they are inverted.
This may be the cause of the problem but I don't know how to change it.

Yeah graphics card makers are screwing things up with the way outputs are numbered.

HDMI is usually counted as output #1, and will therefore be flagged as your primary monitor (relly lame).

Your can change the order of the monitor by virtually dragging your primary monitor to the left in the Windows monitor properties tab.

Thanks, monitor is already on the left, for me moving screens there, doesn't make any difference about the ID they have.

Yes I know how to do it, but monitor is already the primary one
