I just bought a MSI Radeon R9 290X GAMING 4GB 512-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card, I installed it, left my computer on from about 10:30 - 4:30 to download some game updates. I have a program that checks my computer specs and also temps. All temps were fine, except my motherboard was at 150 F. I shut everything down and off. My motherboard is an Asus tek P8H61-M-lx2, lga 1155. I have a cyberpower gamer extreme desktop. Would this problem be a compatibility problem or something totally different from the video card. I have 4 fans in computer case, in addition to the card itself has 2 fans to keep it cool. Any suggestions, help really appreciated.

Nothing on the MB can be considered safe at 150C. Yes, adding a chipset heat sink will help (if that was what the 150C temp referred to) but it shouldn't be that hot to begin with. Not with the factory heat sink attached. If it were me, I'd try a different temp monitoring pgm or two to verify those were even accurate temps. Try HwInfo: http://www.hwinfo.com/
You might check to see that the factory chipset heat sink is securely attached and not loose from the chipset.

I was downloading updates/patches for far cry 4. I have the free program, Speccy, which describes all your components, and it just listed motherboard, told brand, etc, then at the end of that had the temp. Talked to tech guy at newegg where I bought video card, he said temp wasn't that bad, but if I wanted to lower temps to buy a heatsink fan. So bought one of them. He didn't act like it was the card, didn't really know what it was though.
