I have an hp pavilion g6-2218nr which had an amd a6-4600m apu and 8gb 1333mhz ram 2x4, and i have upgraded it to kingston hyperx 1866mhz 2x4 8gb ram. and an a10-5750m.

The cpu reads fine and everything is working good...except my ram is showing only 1600mhz in task manager when i know the 5750m supports 1866mhz which i have in here. and im not sure why but the graphics memory for the 8650g is only showing 512mb.. I thought if i had 8gb it would be more memory on the gpu. Im not expecting to run anything maxed out. but i would like the readings to be correct.

Any solutions?

I wasn't able to find much detailed info on your laptop specs, but what I found indicated that, while your CPU can support 1866, your mobo is maxed at 1600.

As for the vRAM, by default you get 256mb per 4GB of DRAM installed. To increase this, you'll have to look in your BIOS for an option to assign more, or use Catalyst Control Center if the BIOS option is not available.

Hmm, how can i assign more in the control center, i do not have an option in my bios.

i found this on a forum - not sure if it's accurate for your ccc version, but maybe it'll get you in the right ballpark.

If you check in Catalyst Control Center (CCC), when viewing it with advanced options, check under the section "Software." It should show you how much Hypermemory (VRAM) the GPU will take from your main-RAM, when needed. If you do not see this section, then upgrade your drivers (from AMD/ATI Website) and be sure to display your graphic options with advanced-viewing (CCC).

Edit: This doesn't give instructions for adjusting it, but it may get you into the right area to find the option if it's available. Sorry - CCC is not my forte.

I do see this section, but i do not see anywhere to change how much memory, i would like to allow 1gb of my ram onto the gpu.

I've looked everywhere I can think of, but if you can't find an option to assign more RAM in the CPU/GPU/North Bridge sections of your BIOS or in CCC, short of getting on your computer looking through your setting options myself, I don't any other means to do it. Maybe someone smarter on AMD APUs can chime in.

Having said that, based on my research I don't think there's much point. For any game where you can adjust settings to play at a 30FPS minimum, it's unlikely that your APU will be able to take advantage of more than 512MB anyway. At the bottom of this post is a link to an article from Puget Systems that covers APU RAM optimization. It uses the A10-5800K for testing, but is still relevant. Here is the conclusion:

"So in conclusion, there is almost no reason to set the shared memory size to larger than 512MB for gaming if you are using onboard graphics."
