I am just wondering whats the main advantage of having RAM embedded into the processor. If its because of speed whats the difference between having it embedded and having it separate.

Solution
External RAM lets you have more speed, because you can run RAM sticks in memory channels.
These memory channels lets you access your RAM faster so your computer can access extra data in a quicker amount of time, this can help a lot in gaming and workstation things.

Of course you can get a lower CAS Latency RAM stick too or DDR4 fast RAM too.

consider it a new type of cache. speed is the biggest as well as price embedded costs more. Embedding memory on the ASIC or processor allows for much wider buses and higher operation speeds, and due to much higher density of DRAM in comparison to SRAM, larger amounts of memory can be installed on smaller chips if eDRAM is used instead of eSRAM. eDRAM requires additional fab process steps compared with embedded SRAM, which raises cost, but the 3× area savings of eDRAM memory offsets the process cost when a significant amount of memory is used in the design.
