So the problem is that when I plug my headset microphone to the microphone jack the camera of a webcam stops working. My webcam is Microsoft LifeCam Cinema. The microphone of the webcam still works fine. So when the headset microphone is connected, the lifecam program says that Webcam is not connected to this computer. What would be problem. I have contacted Microsoft support, but they only say that I have configured it wrong.

Thanks!

Just a guess, but does your webcam perhaps have its own built-in mic?

If so, when it switches to the webcam, it might also be dragging along the webcam's mic, which may not be configured properly in your window setup.

IF that is the case, I'm not sure what you would have to do to resolve that, other than perhaps turning on the webcam and then going into your Sound setup and manually switching to the main mic again.

You could also check to see if it's just muting it, I've seen weirder things happen.
