My setup: MSI z99S Gaming 7 MB, Intel i7-5930k, msi geforce gtx 970 4g, 8GB DDR4 2400, Apevia 700w PSU. I just recently bought all this hardware probley within a month and for some reason when I try to play some games my computer screen will go black and a continuous freeze sound plays. The computer stays on and only way to turn it off is to reset it. I dont know if its a bad GPU or if my PSU isnt suppling enough power but i didnt think with my setup i would have any problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First, if you have overclocked the setup, try running at stock speeds. Also your PSU is a multi rail one. a 12V line can provide only 14As.

A GeForce GTX 970 - needs 28 amps on the 12v + rail and a 500 watt power supply with 1 - 6 pin and 1 - 8 pin PCIE power connection.

That might be the case. Even though your PSU provides 700W. Combined power of 12V rails only 28A to the minimum of what that GPU needs. So the problem should be your PSU.

Make sure you have connected those PCI x 6 pin and 6+2 pin cables from two rails. That'll make sure it'll get at least 28A. But getting the full amount from the rails will stress it heavily. So eventually you'll be better off with a better PSU.
