Just a quick query here guys:

pcpartpicker has informed me that my current setup, as listed here: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/FJnW6h

Should require just under 450W, to be safe and allow for possible future upgrades I went for a 620W PSU, and many people suggest that anything above 700W is overkill for someone in my position (single GPU, no absolutely demanding games requiring more GPU), yet, on XFX's formal website they state that the minimum power required is 750W. Read here (scroll to the bottom to check specs): http://xfxforce.com/en-us/products/amd-radeon-r9-series/amd-radeon-r9-280x-black-double-dissipation-edition-r9-280x-tdbd

Can anybody please shed some light on this situation?

You're absolutely fine with that PSU, don't sweat it. There are loads of powersupplies on the market which claim to be "650W" which, in reality, provide about 300-400W on the 12V rail. That's why loads of GPU sellers go totally overkill, basically to account for all the rubbish products on the market which outright lie about their rated wattage.

That's a decent quality unit you've got there and a good fit for the rest of your system.
