So recently i have been having trouble with my gpu fan. It stops spinning at speeds under 80% and when its 80% or above it gets very loud. Any ideas?

I have a MSI R7770 series.

Solution
Some GPU's fans are driven by the motherboard. When it feels that it need some cooling, it turns them on.

I suppose that's natural behaviour. Are your temperatures okay?

Good Luck!
Axel.

Not really. When playing a CS:GO which is not too graphically demanding, it gets up to 70 C° and gets very loud.

It could just be an old card, aswell.
GPU-temperatures usually get quite warm.

If you're still suspicious, take the card out, clean the inside with pressurized air (Oil and water-free) then put it back in again.
Or, look though this and other forums for similar issues with that very card.

Good Luck!
Axel.
