I have an ASUS G50V laptop. I had the hard drive partitioned with Windows Vista and 7 installed. Now for some reason it doesn't boot.

On startup I get the message "Reboot and Select proper Boot device".

Making sure the Boot Sequence was correct was obviously my first option. No luck there.

My next choice was to simply do a clean install of Windows 7, but once I had the setup started the laptop was unable to detect any hard drives to perform the install.

Any help is appreciated.

Hey, that's a nice laptop. I have a g50vt-x6. You could upgrade the CPU to an X9100 real cheap from Ebay and upgrade to the Forcecon cooling fan that the G51VX/G51J uses. Tophatphones on Ebay has 9-cell genuine healthy used A33-M50 batteries for $9.99 shipped since I'm sure your original battery is dead, as mine was after about 3 years

Hope you get your software figured out,EDIT: maybe check to see if the SATA controller is set for RAID mode?
