I installed Windows 7 cracked version as I was broke at the time & now realise how much of a bad idea it was after getting bsod often and figuring that it was the reason why.
I decided that i'd go out and buy Windows 8, so I am now wondering, will all of the programs, plug-ins etc stay exactly the same when updating to windows 8 and will this fix the problem updating straight from Windows 7 or do I need to completely wipe everything and install windows 8 on a new hard drive :/
Main reason is because I am a music producer and all my projects, plug-ins, programs etc are all organised and would take about a month to back this up and re-install all the things I need again :(

Thanks. And sorry to anybody I offended about installing cracked Windows, I realise my mistakes

Solution

From your initial statement:
"I installed Windows 7 cracked version"

Wipe and reinstall, with a valid, legal version.

Is there no way that just upgrading to Windows 8 will work without bsoding? I have cracked windows 7 currently installed which is the problem as i've done weeks on weeks of research how to fix my bsod, but the only way of fixing this is to re-install windows but im thinking possibly just upgrading it will work?
Because I used the original windows 7 installation but just used a cracked key. Therefore if I upgrade and then enter my windows 8 legitimate key, that will work wont it and keep all my programs and plugins installed?

Haha I know guys, it's payback. First time I tried it you see, as with many people, try to get away with a few quid especially when i'm young and money is tough but yea, my music stuff is fine, I can't cock that up.
Is it possible that upgrading from windows 7 directly through the setup wizard is a way that could fix it? Also, if I try that and enter the product key then it doesn't fix it, can I still wipe my hdd and re-install it using that key?

Your existing Win7 install is already broken, and not legal.

Wipe and reinstall, with a valid, legal Windows install.

And what else did that 'activator' leave behind?
I don't think you'll find anyone here who would recommend anything other than a complete wipe and reinstall.

I suppose so. I might try this command 'bootsect.exe /nt60 all' supposedly it might stop bsod from happening.

If I enter a serial once and then clean install and enter it again, will it still be valid? I'm guessing the key attatches to the MAC address?
