Hi all. I am looking into building a custom water cooled system. I am a total noob at this as I have never done it before and looking for tips/help.

Basically I want a custom loop system but I don't even know where to start.

I am looking at spending around £300 if that is feasible. I want it to be a black and green theme to match my case/motherboard so either green tubing or more preferably green dye in clear tubing.

Here are my system specs/case:

Motherboard: Gigabyte G1 Sniper 3
CPU: Intel i7 3770k
Graphics Card: Gigabyte GTX 970 Windforce Edition

Case: Razer NZXT H440

I believe they will be all you need???

I will be wanting to cool the CPU with the option of then later on cooling the graphics card/s.

Here are some pictures of the case and the components to help give an idea on size.

Any help is much appreciated!!

Many Thanks

What is your objective?
If you just want to experiment or fiddle, go for it.
If you have a performance objective, there are better solutions that cost less.

My canned rant on liquid cooling:
------------------------start of rant-------------------
You buy a liquid cooler to be able to extract an extra multiplier or two out of your OC.
How much do you really need?
I do not much like all in one liquid coolers when a good air cooler like a Noctua NH-D15 or phanteks can do the job just as well.
A liquid cooler will be expensive, noisy, less reliable, and will not cool any better
in a well ventilated case.
Liquid cooling is really air cooling, it just puts the heat exchange in a different place.
The orientation of the radiator will cause a problem.
If you orient it to take in cool air from the outside, you will cool the cpu better, but the hot air then circulates inside the case heating up the graphics card and motherboard.
If you orient it to exhaust(which I think is better) , then your cpu cooling will be less effective because it uses pre heated case air.
And... I have read too many tales of woe when a liquid cooler leaks.
google "H100 leak"
-----------------------end of rant--------------------------

I suggest a noctua nh-D15 or phanteks with dual 140mm fans.
Your pc will be quieter, more reliable, and will be cooled equally well

Thanks for the replies.

It's a bit of both, for overclocking and for aesthetics. I installed a corsair H60 a few months back and overclocked the CPU to 4.2. This was then giving me temperatures in the 80's which I have been told is rather high. I would like to overclock it back to 4.2 but only if I can keep the temperature down.

Is it not possible to get none conductive liquid so therefore if a leak does happen. It wont destroy any of the components?

Maybe I will look into fan cooling a bit more as the last thing I want is to destroy my computer from my own stupidity.

I hear a lot of maintenance is require when running a custom loop too?

I was looking at the NZXT Kraken X60 as it matches the make of my case, has the capability of changing the colour of the L.E.D. (not important I know) and I know fits. Does anyone have one of these and recommend it?

Thanks

Dean

How high you can OC a chip is largely determined by your luck in the bin lottery.
For the most part, high heat is caused by high vcore voltage.
At some point a high voltage can be damaging for 24/7 operation.
At that point, you can control the heat with exotic cooling, but it is the high voltage that does the damage.

My guess is that you would get more performance out of a second ram stick so you can run in a dual channel configuration.
