I'm quite curious to know if plugging my PSU (let's say a 750W 80+ gold) into an extension plug and not a wall plug will make a differnece in performance overall on a PC.

Solution

From my own experience before moving to a new house I Have had my PC connected straight to the wall plug and now I have my pc connected to the 2nd extension cord. ( So I have one extension cord connected to the wall Plug and from that extension cord I have another extension cord and to that one I have my Pc connected and 3 monitors and an Xbox.)There has not been anything difference so far which I have encountered. So there should not be a problem because you're probably not using those 850 watts anyway.

P.S Make sure the extension cord is 10Amps or above
