I cleaned cpu today on my acer aspire v3-571G laptop today and assembled it all together and now it isn't working. When i turn it on nothing displays, the fan spins for 2 seconds then stops.

Solution
Family duty calls, so I'll have to come back to this later, but it sounds like a monitor/driver issue. I would go ahead and clear the CMOS (make sure battery is out, etc, etc), and while you're in the guts, check all connectors and fasteners that you can find and make sure they're all right and tight, then reassemble and try booting again. Good luck - I'll be back on in a few hours to see how it's going.

of course artic silver 5 i used. and yup i used the manual guide provided for this specific laptop showing the order, unscrewed and retightened the same.

Also this was happening when i first attempted to dismantle i couldn't get the palmrest off due to screw i missed, so i assembled back together (when i didn't even touch the heatsinks or cpu) and it wasn't displaying, so then i decided to go again as i noticed a screw i forgot to take out.

Have you tried F8 during boot, or CTRL/ALT/DEL during black screen to see if you can get any graphics at all to show?

Can you tell if the CPU is working (i.e. heating up)? If you've got the back still off, you can also try clearing your CMOS. Should be two copper contact points on the mobo face labeled JCMOS1 under your DRAM.

Just trying to figure out if it's a driver, mobo, CPU, or monitor issue, or a combination.

i've got it all assembled at the moment, but i can still clear CMOS if you still want me to try. But i tried those, but i left it on for 1-2minutes and i heard the windows load sound, so it is booting up as normal, just no display, and yer i can feel a little bit of heat on side vent. Hope this helps D:

sorry wrong button. i did the CMOS reset. I noticed i didn't have a cable properly plugged in and now it's turning on and it's getting to the windows error recovery and i can't select and keep getting this weird colour drain on my screen

#update i let the battery charge for a minute and turned on again and now it seems to be working fine
#update 2 it loaded the desktop and then it shutdown and restarted and shows a black screen but lighted
#update 3 i've loaded the desktop and it shows 4gb of ram even though 2 4gb ram stacks are inserted
#update 3.1 was my bad error on inserting the ram now seems to be in functioning as normal i dunno anymore about #2 hasn't happened again anymore
