Family duty calls, so I'll have to come back to this later, but it sounds like a monitor/driver issue. I would go ahead and clear the CMOS (make sure battery is out, etc, etc), and while you're in the guts, check all connectors and fasteners that you can find and make sure they're all right and tight, then reassemble and try booting again.
