Battlefield 4 not running very well

I'm new to custom pc gaming and I would like to be able to play Battlefield 4 on the high-ultra settings. I'm hoping someone can help me understand what is lacking in my setup because right now the game is choppy while playing multiplayer. Here are my specs:
Intel i5 4790k processor
MSI GTX 970 graphics
ASUS Z97X motherboard
8GB XPG memory
500Gb Samsung SSD (NAND)
Corsair HX750 watt power supply
LG 22" monitor (1080p)
Windows 8.1 Pro

Without G-sync I'd leave V-sync on. Be sure resolution to scale = 100 and not any higher. MSAA 2X will boost FPS nicely, also I drop post processing down to medium because on ultra it has more motion blur effects which I don't like and that will also give you a few more FPS.

Last but not least if you're still not happy with performance you can turn AO off and that really helps with frame dips quite a bit. AO is usually something I turn off if min FPS isn't 80 (for high hz bliss) as I have trouble seeing a difference with AO on/off where I do notice low FPS. As you can tell I'm not a big AO/Motion Blur/Post Processing advocate, haha keep us posted!

It has been off. I turned the resolution down and that helped quite a bit. There is still some tearing on the high setting though.

turn vsync off in game. force vsync off in the nvidia control panel. in your bf4.cfg file, cap your fps to your refresh rate(you might need to try 60fps, 59.94fps, 59.93fps, etc). you need to create a bf4.cfg file yourself. this is the best way to control fps without introducing lag. just google bf4 cfg.


in the nvidia control panel, change max prerender frames to 3, set display to single monitor, set performance to maximum.
