I believe my internet speed is slower than it should be and my router might be the issue. The configuration web page for my ZyXel Fr1000z modem (http://http://www.zyxel.com/us/en/products_services/fr1000z.shtml?t=p ) displays the following data Century Link WAN 1000/1000 Mbps, Downstream Rate: 1000 Mbps, Upstream Rate: 1000 Mbps. I performed a internet speed test by disconnecting all network devices (except for the computer used in the test) , setting my computer's network adapter to 1Gbps Full Duplex, connecting my computer to a port on the router with a CAT 5e cable, and using http://http://www.speedtest.net/. The results of the speed test showed my download speed as ~10 Mbps and my upload speed as ~5 Mbps.

Should the speed test results be different?

Can you help me fix this problem?

If more information is needed please ask.

Solution
what internet speed do you pay for? the router is capable of speeds at 1 gb each way but unless you are paying for that speed, you won't see it.

you should be seeing the max you pay for. what speed do you pay for?

Math Geek, thank you for your response. I asked my ISP what internet speed my home has and it is much lower than I thought (12Mbps :( ). Thank you, again.
