This is my 3d mark score. I just got new MSI GAMING GTX 970 and I found performances to be really lackluster. I ran 3D Mark, I have i5-2500k not overclocked and the physics score is ridicolous, why is it so low ? I looked at the results of people who have i5-2500's and they have physics score around 6,5-7k, so I should have comparable to them. What is the problem ? I don't know what other info I should give, my PC specs are listed in 3d mark link.

Yes, I do know that. However it shouldnt be THAT low, please read the entire post. I compared mine benchmark to same gpu and i5'2500 cpu and my score was like 3k off. Again, please read entire post before saying anything.

I had the same problem with an older i5-2500K (overclocked to 4.0GHz). My 3DMark Firestrike physics score was low, about half of comparable systems. After some troubleshooting, I noticed my CPU was running hot, 60C idle, 95C with Prime95. I cleaned my CPU heat-sink/fan (Intel stock) which was caked with dust. I also applied fresh thermal paste. Problem solved, my CPU was running cool and my Firestrike physics score was as expected. The CPU must have been throttled due to overheating. Good luck.

First of all, are you sure the scores your comparing to are at stocked and not overclocked? If the scores you comparing to are stock and your physics score is low in 3D Mark and your CPU temps are under control I would check to see what background programs you have running. First I would run a Malwarebytes custom scan on your entire C drive (or whatever drive you have you OS installed on) and delete any malware and PUPs it finds. After Malwarebytes is done if it found anything reboot and see if you still have a problem. Next I would launch Task Manager and see if there is anything that is using up a lot of CPU or RAM. If you system resources are being sapped by a application using a lot of CPU or RAM your scores are going to be low. Keep in mind as well that most people when they run a benchmark like this shut down as many background tasks as humanly possibly including antivirus software (some suits can leave a large footprint on your system which will lower your score).
