why is my acer laptop is taking 6 hours to do a system restore

No, it shouldn't take anything like as long as that for a System Restore. Even two hours would be excessive since SR only restores the critical OS system files, the registry, and any apps that were installed at the time that the chosen restore point was created.
You might want to consider backing up your data then re-installing Windows (or Factory Restore, whichever applies in your case).
