Is this a good gaming/recording/streaming/editing build

Solution
How about this for 4K? It should be able to handle everything but the most demanding 4K applications (e.g. CAD and Ae simultaneously in 4k, both rendering).

Mobo is expensive, you could go with a cheaper one without problems. Same with psu, case and ram. Budget choices without performance loss.

My answer would depend on just how much editing you plan to do. If editing is a major task, I might suggest a different configuration, if it is only a side-issue, then OK.

I do not know the quality of that PSU and would be looking at a Tier 1 or 2a from this list. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-1804779/power-supply-unit-tier-list.html Do you plan for future SLI of a second 980. If not, you can use less power. (750 to 850W)

How many monitors and what resolution will you be using.

I've tweaked it for SERIOUS video editing so if that's what you want to do have a look at this:

Solution

More cores are always good but CUDA does help a lot - encoding H.264 for example, used to be dependant on the CPU, now it can all be accelerated by the GPU using CUDA - my render times were cut drastically after I upgraded to cc 2014 and began to use the adobe media encoder.
