hi there i got my new samsung 840 evo msata ssd about 2 weeks ago and i have noticed that its overheating a lot when im just browsing the internet.

I was wondering why this is happening whn it supposedly has the Dynamic Thermal Guard protection feature?

Do i have to manually enable this feature or something ?

Its running really hot for a drive (60 DEGREES).

It may be worth noting that i dont have AHCI enabled as i forgot when i installed it.

That is quite hot, it's hard to say if it's actually working or not. I'd certainly get a cooling pad since it's a laptop, it could also depend on where you live and how hot it actually is. You can get cooling pads pretty cheap now day, anywhere from $20, you might as well get one since it...

They should be 50 C and under generally so it is running a little too hot. Do you have a fan or air flow going through to it at all?
Also Dynamic Thermal Guard protection feature should automatically drop the temperature.

hi i dont have a laptop colling tray but i have it propped up to let air flow out easier.

and yes that what im saying, why isnt the thermal guard protection keeping it down?

its sometimes reaching 71 degrees
