Hi,
I've been using a generic 32" tv as a monitor for about 3 years and never had an issue with the display. In the past, I've unplugged & replugged the hdmi lead many times (I occasionally swap to Xbox). Yesterday I moved the tv, not for the first time but since then I can't get my laptop display up on the screen.
The lead works from tv to xbox so it's not that. The tv is recognized by the computer, I can see it in Playback Devices etc It makes the 'bingbong' sound when I connect or disconnect. Just no sound or picture on either HDMI input. I've tried combinations of switching on/plugging in/swapping cables etc but nothing works!
The tv displays the Xbox fine so it must (presumably) be my laptop. I did a system restore and have tried to update drivers but tbh I'm not sure what I'm doing when I'm in Control Panel :s Any help would be appreciated. Sorry if this is in the wrong section, I'm not used to this forum thing..

Solution
Try right clicking the desktop, selecting screen resolution, click on the image that represents your tv and then selecting it as either "extend desktop" or "use this device as primary display" from the options.
