Hey guys,

This issue is a continuation of my problem described in this thread: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2517104/computer-turns-searched-answers.html

A brief summary of my problem mentioned in the above thread;
My computer was running smoothly when suddenly it shut down today. When I tried to turn it on, it would power up, the fans would get a single push and then the system would power down. After trying various solutions in the thread, we brought down the problem to have something to do with the BIOS reset and I closed the thread.

Unfortunately it seems that the BIOS reset wasn't the problem. Now what happens is, if I need to power up my system, the power button doesn't work. With the power button of the PSU set to the on position, I have to first put the CMOS jumper in the reset position. Then I start removing the jumper, and as soon as there is no jumper in the pins, the computer boots up. Please note that the computer doesn't boot up when the jumper is in its normal position. And the boot up isn't actually a boot, only the fans keep turning and the LED lights come on, but there is absolutely no display.

I'd really appreciate if someone could help me as I'm totally clueless. I've not been able to use my computer the entire day and I've spent the entire day asking questions in this forum, and following what ever suggestions you guys put forward, But nothing has worked so far.

As to what tests and procedures are followed so far, it's mentioned in the thread link above. I'm sorry that I haven't mentioned it here as well. If you guys want me to put that up in here, I'll be glad to do so.

Here's a picture off the smooth criminal:

Solution
The bios Reset Pins Only need to be shorted to reset the bios otherwise no Jumper is needed (it just has 3 pins <one is nil> so the jumper can be stored on board)

Note the Power Button is a momentary switch (not full On) if the power was full on you PC will shut down 4 seconds after pressing the Pwr button

1) Remove the Bios Jumper
2) Either use a screwdriver to temp shot the power pins on the MB of u can use your Reset switch (as this is also a Momentary Switch)

If your system if still turning of after 2 seconds Your really need to test your PSU to rule this out
Then you can RMA your MB as it has a 5yr warranty

In thinking its a problem with the motherboard. And im planning to RMA it. But jut to be sure, heres where I stand now.

1. After unplugging everything, ie no ram, no gpu, no CLRTC jumper etc., only thing kept on is cpu. At this stage, the power button doesnt work at all. Shorting it doesn't work as well [This is when there is no jumper at all on the pins]. However, if i short jumper pins 2,3 and then short 1,2.

a. The computer starts up and keeps running but without any display.
b. The cpu led remains lit.
c. At this stage, if I short the power pins, the computer turns off.

2. If i put the jumper pins back at 1,2 nothing works. I cant turn on the system normally or by shorting it.

A final word on this markk.. So that I can proceed with the RMA of the right component.

On my phone ATM... OK so it doesn't work as it should.

The fact you can get it to stay on is a positive but still unsolved issue.

Your MB has advanced bios recovery settings it sounds like thats what your getting into. Refer manual on bios recovery from USB

Not sure if that actually will work. Not having the manual I'm unsure of what actual pins your shorting. Or if my above comments have any relevance to this new info.

Sorry this isn't as helpful this time I would really of liked to check what you have done with shorting pins before giving false hopes.
