Resident Evil order for newcomers

Hi guys

I'm totally new to this series, wish to start playing it in right order. so what do you think - considering PC's new remastered version-.in fact it doesn't matter chronological or release date order, just the way you see it good.

It actually is chronological, sort of, it's actually kind of a huge s----y mess really.

Playing a future game won't help, and thankfully the games are all numbered.

They aren't all the same quality though.
