No PC will ever be completely future proof, and spending an extra $200 on the CPU won't guarantee it. Games don't use more than four cores even extremely high end games like Wolfenstein, Bioshock: Infinite, and Civilization: Beyond Earth don't use more than two at the most. X99 is mainly for multimedia content creation apps like Adobe CS6 and rendering applications like Autodesk Revit and Maya.
