I run p5q pro mobo with g.skilll 8gb ddr2 800mhz, xfx dd hd 7970 3gb, q9550 core 2 quad. Plays battlefield 4 ultra settings 1080p with 60fps (fraps) and advanced warefare on high settings and crysis 3 ultra high 40 (fraps) ddr2 runs at 6400 mbps PLENTY for gaming, pluss ddr2 has lower latency. ddr2 800 or above will not be the bottleneck! But ddr2 motherboards only support slow cpus so go with i7 unless you get qx9650 with is about same performance as phenom 2 x4 960. Check out passmark 10000s benchmarks tests by 100000s of systems. I have the money to upgrade but computer plays everything fine at good fps so no need but i7 2nd gen at soooo much faster then core 2 quads! BUT No game as of 2014 will need the power of qx9650. Hope this helps
