Hi, recently (for about 2 months now) only my laptop has been getting fairly big lag spikes when playing games/browsing the web
The laptop is an HP Envy dv6 7214nr

Now, to clarify some things
I have done just about everything you could suggest, including

  • Switch to ethernet
    Google public dns
    reset modem/router
    remove ipv6
    MANY cmd commands
    buying new router/modem
    reinstall OS from clean drive
    new drivers
    cheking temps
checking to make sure speeds are normal
    Registry changes
    disabling firewall
    disabling windows defender

ANY, I mean ANY insight/help on this issue would be MASSIVELY appreciated, thank you!

Well, I've had it for about 1 and a half years now, but i dont think that should be attributing to a problem I've seens only in the past few months, should it?

Most likely not. It's probably a hardware problem rather than a software one though. i would get you're laptop checked out by your local computer shop.

open and leave the resource monitor running in the background (I am assuming it is windows machine). When you have a issue see if there is anything out of the ordinary. Lag on only 1 machine generally implies the machine itself. It can be caused by anything from a cpu usage spike to memory issues. Most times it really stands out in the resource monitor. In most cases you should get a clue as to what program is causing it.

Still the worst offenders are video drivers and those many times are not as obvious...mostly the show as a cpu spike from the system itself.
