I recently restored my computer, and then found that the internet was no longer working. The restore program said something went wrong. Chrome browser no longer works, along with Avast anti virus.

I called comcast and through cmd they verified that the internet and connection was solid, but something on my computer was preventing me from seeing it. (Wifi access on my phone does work)

Need help. Please be as clear as possible; I am not computer literate.

Solution
I kept looking, and trying different solutions. Simone posted the following, which worked for me:

"Go to start type CMD in the search (DO NOT PRESS ENTER)

Right click on the cmd icon and select "Run as Administrator" from the menu

Then issue the following command to completely reset most of the bits that let you get online.

ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset reset.log

After that, I rebooted the computer and the internet it working again.
