1. There's no real difference in gaming performance with DDR4 vs. DDR3. DDR4 is a newer technology and most applications won't make full use of it yet.

2. Yes it's a variant of the GTX 980. Cyberpower is notorious for selling mystery components and not knowing exactly what you're getting is not a good thing.

I'm set on getting the i5-4690K. I think the MSI Motherboard g-unit1111 mentioned is better than that Gigabyte one. I'm still undecided on the video card.

They're about the same...

For a $1900 build, do not purchase a Raidmax case - they are among the worst of the worst. The thermal compound, 1KW PSU, sound card, and NIC aren't needed. You can lose these things and upgrade your case.

This would be a much better build:

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not an expert when it comes to CPU coolers and wouldn't the lesser memory be a drawback? Is a SSD necessary?

Is the Asus GeForce GTX 980 4GB STRIX Video Card the same thing as the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980?

Admirable

8gb is more than enough for gaming
It is the same, only with a better cooler and slight overclock.

They're about the same. The MSI board is the same board that I have and it's great, I have my 4690K running at a very stable 4.0GHz with no overheating issues.

What about a MSI GeForce GTX 980 4GB Twin Frozr Video Card?

They're decent, the Asus Strix and Gigabyte Windforce are better coolers.

Well I'm personally not a fan - I've seen lots of their cases fall apart and have things like defective LEDs and doors falling off, their power supplies have an extremely high fail rate I could go on and on. One time just picking up a Raidmax case the door fell off and broke into a couple of pieces.

So which would be better between the Asus Strix and Gigabyte Windforce?

Okay so for video cards I've decided on these two. MSI GeForce GTX 980 4GB Twin Frozr and Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 4GB WINDFORCE. Not really a fan of Asus. Would the GB one be better since it has three fans?

Depends on what you want to spend. Around the ~$100 mark I would suggest:

- Fractal Design Define R4/R5
- Phanteks Enthoo Pro
- NZXT H440
- Cooler Master Storm Scout
- Corsair 500R

That's the one I just got and it works great, I have had no issues with it.

Should I also get a separate fan for the case itself?

hi , regarding the GPU , u will hear a lot of suggestions and personal opinions ,MSI +GB G1 both are the right choice in my opinion , u would hear someone recommending x2 970gtx sli cards cause they perform better , but after all it's you who decide ,i suggest you stick with one 980 card , and for the case , this one http://www.fractal-design.com/home/definer5landingpage
i would recommend

BD-R burner is unnecessary and switch your SSD to a Samsung 850 Evo or 850 Pro, much better than the Intel 530. Otherwise it all looks good!
