I have the following desktop:

ASUS K5130
Intel(r) Core(TM) i3-3240T CPU @ 2.9GHz

Do I need to open pc up to check motherboard for slots etc..? I went to asus website and all I could find out was power supply for this model is 250w, so will I need to upgrade power supply prior to upgrading graphics (if I even can) graphics at this moment is bog standard intel hd integrated?

any help/advice would be greatly appreciated :)

For indie games like minecraft you can probably use integrated graphics. However if you want to play games like battlefield, call of duty, etc. you would probably need a radeon r9...

You definitely need a new psu. You should be able to put a graphics card in, but if your pc is small you might want to know the dimensions to see if it will fit. Why are you upgrading your graphics, is it to play games (what games), or is it for another use?

Theres plenty space definitely, im willing to spend a reasonable amount unless it would be cheaper starting from scratch, just not sure what psu/graphics combo would go with my motherboard

kind of forgot to put why im doing it :p I want to start playing pc games rather than console (fed up with xbl/psn) I like playing indie games but don't mind a blast at cod/bf/cs

I updated original post with specs found from running speccy, any advice on psu/graphics choices if possible

For indie games like minecraft you can probably use integrated graphics. However if you want to play games like battlefield, call of duty, etc. you would probably need a radeon r9 type graphics card or greater. You would probably want a better cpu like i5 at least to play call of duty and other games and you want a good i5 or i7 to play battlefield 4
