I'm about to install Windows 7 on my new computer build. Its a Windows 7 OEM DVD that says I can only install it on one computer.

My questions are:

If I install this on my build, and then need to do a wipe of it down the road because lets say a virus, can I use the same DVD to reinstall it back on?

What exactly are my uses and limitations with a Windows 7 OEM disc?

Thank you!!!!

Basiclly you can only install it on 1 computer. If you would like to install it on another for example you would ahve to remove it form pc where its installed. And if u delete it cus of virus you can install it back on.

OEM windows 7 is locked to a single motherboard thus you cannot move it to another pc with a different motherboard. You can reinstall window 7 and reuse the licence if you haven't made any changes to the motherboard.

Actually, the Windows 7 OEM license agreement states that you license is tied to the motherboard it is first installed on and you cannot install it onto any other computer. Re-installation onto the same computer/motherboard, is allowed.

That said, many people has reported success at installing the Windows 7 OEM onto other computers. Successful activation, however, depends on Microsoft. If the online activation fails, you will need to use the phone method for activation and Microsoft *may* decline your request.

Yes, you can reinstall on that same PC.
PC defined as 'the motherboard'.
