I was using a AMD 965BE processor and Asus M5a97 r2 mobo. Everything was fine and I had OC to 4.2Ghz stable. The CPU is cooler by NZXT Kraken X60 AIO cooler.

Just bought a fx 8350 and replaced the processor.

Since then I am seeing different temperatures on monitoring software.

CoreTemp and Nzxt Cam software (AIO fan control software) shows the core temp.
OCCT, AiSuite and hwmonitor show CPU temp

When I run stress tests the core temps are max 50C but the CPU temps reach upto 76C.

I dont understand why the socket temp is so high. Please help. Should I change the motherboard, would that help ?

This board has 4+2 phase power. FX 8350 may be supported but I would not try to OC it. It will draw more current than your 965BE, which may be contributing to the high CPU socket and motherboard temps. It makes the VRM work much harder and this adds more heat to motherboard components. The CPU core is being cooled well by the Kraken. But the high power draw flowing through the motherboard is going to heat the board up substantially.

I would talk with ASUS and see if these high temps are safe.
