How much should I overclock and how?

Hello ,

I 'm asking how much should i overclock my R9 280x Vapor-X Tri-x.
Default core is 1000 mhz and memory 1500 mhz and I wanted to ask you how to carefully overclock and how much?

I would suggest using MSI Afterburner.

Dont worry its easy.Download MSI AB, ramp up power limit + 20% set core voltage to 1.250v and play with clocks. Something like 1175/1700 would be achievable but i advise you start slowly, like 15-25mhz up.

Check settings and enable voltage monitoring.

Yea, I can't either on my 7970. It means it is locked. So I just up the memory and clock frequency until I get screen freezes. Then lower it a little and that is your limit.

I'm only able to go to 1040MHz from 1000. But I can get 1500MHz on the memory from 1375.

Then its bios locked voltage. There are threads about it, flash new bios (unlocked) or overclock it until you limit voltage hits
