Hello!

I just got my build delivered earlier today.

Gtx 970
I5 4690k (it was £5 more then 4690)
Asus H97-PRO
8GB ram

I am worrying that my build won't be able to cope with future games due to the 4 core i5. I will really appricate some assistance, as I am not sure how well my build will cope under the next gen titles in a few years.

Thanks for helping me, I really appricate it.

You really don't need to worry. We are just now starting to exit the phase where most games used only 2 threads and are now starting to see more games use four. The vast majority of even high end PC gamers have four core processors. It doesn't make any sense for developers to suddenly try to make games that use 6 or 8 threads. Your current processor is top end as far as gaming is concerned, an upgrade would do you no good.

you should be fine for quite awhile(by that i mean a few years to come) you should have no problems with current games on that cpu, the only game that i can think of that would cause issue would be arma 3/dayz and thats because they are horribly optimized and even then your cpu can run the game just fine(i have a 4670k) at around 50-60fps and if you overclock you will gain about another 15-25 in that specific game.

Thank you.

You have put my mind at ease, I was over thinking it, this is my first build and I want to make sure the parts I can get are the best for my money. I didn't know that about the cores, so thank you :)

Thanks for the info gokitty, I actually do play Dayz and it is a very CPU concentrated game, I am glad mine will be able to cope with it, as it has got to be one of the worst optimized games.

Before I had a 8800GT and a i2 Quad, and it ran just awful, I am glad the 4690K is up to the task.

Thanks for you help guys, I really appricate it :)
