Can someone recommend a $100 or less single slot video card with lower power consumption?

Has to be single slot as it's going in an HP with an ITX case-no way to install a double slot card.

Thanks.

GPUs prices usually go $40, 70, 130, 150... but there's actually a $100 gpu out there and is better than the $70 ones. This is the Radeon HD 7770:

However, if you saved your money for 50 more dollars you could get a way better card like the Radeon r7 265:

I am aware there are a few other nVidia cards for same price of $100 like the GT 740, but none of them are as good as the 7770 in that price range.

Of course it's not going to be doing modern games at anything over low settings except for undemanding games like WoT, War Thunder, LoL, etc.

I hacked half of the front bracket off of a MSI GTX650 to fit into my daughters Dell Mid tower. The bracket unscrews from the card, and I took a pair of tin snips to cut half of the double slot bracket away. The tower had enough space internally, but only had clearance for a single slot where the bracket mated up to the exterior Mobo I/O shield. . The card requires a 6 pin power cable , but ran just fine off of a 350w Silverstone PSU. The 305 w Dell psu was not enough to run the GTX650 to it's full output. Passmark score jumped from about 1650 to 1850 once I upgraded the PSU to the 350w Silverstone. Your psu should handle a GTX650 just fine. The MSI GTX650 bracket only attaches to the pcb half of the card. The other half (second slot) of the bracket is just venting for the fan. Internally, the fan and fan shroud does extend into a double slot area, so if that is a problem, this mod won't work for you. The card is short, which allows it to clear the stock Dell CPU fan assembly. So if you have enough clearance internally, this mod might work for you. Average selling prices of the GTX650 are around $100.

The non-hack version , is to purchase a GT640 with GDDR5 memory. It is a single slot card. It's essentially the same card as the GTX650, but with a 64 bit bus instead of the GTX650's 128 bit bus. Keep in mind, you need to find a 640 with GDDR5 memory, instead of the slower and more readily available DDR3 memory. For those of you that think the 64 bit bus will hamstring the card, you're wrong. The faster GDDR5 more than makes up for the lesser memory bus. Remember, you only need a bus that provides the necessary lanes for the card to work properly. Anything beyond what is needed, is wasted. The 640 does not need more than a 64 bit bus when utilizing GDDR5 memory. It's more then adequate for the architecture of the 640 chipset. The faster GDDR5 and 64 bit bus is not the limiting factor when applied to a GT640 chipset. The slower DDR3 is the limiting factor when coupled with the 640 chipset. Even with a wider memory bus ...
