I had an old Sony Vaio laptop (8 years ago) and it broke. I removed the internal hard drive and connected it through a hard drive adapter to my laptop. The old laptop had a Vault or Safe on it with many files I need in it. I cannot find the files when the hard drive is connected. I have typed in the name and they do not show up. Is it a hidden file inside the hard drive or does Sony delete the files when the hard drive is removed? I really need to get the files and do not know what to do. Thank you for any help!

There is only one thing I can tell you for sure. Sony can't and won't delete the files when the hard drive is removed. Hard drives need power and a processor to be operated on.
As for the rest, I suggest you look for someone competent in Data Recovery to recover your data.
