Hello everyone,
I am currently looking into buying a desktop PC with an AMD A10-6700 APU. My old laptop had an AMD A8-4500M APU. All else being equal, how much of an increase/decrease can I expect in terms of processing and graphics performance?
Thanks,
Filip

You can't compare laptop and desktop processors, they're built to entirely different specifications.

In terms of gaming performance, an A10-6700 will, for the most part, do a good job at 1280x720 with advanced settings kept to a minimum. Basic tasks, such as web browsing, will probably be much the same as they were on your laptop.

The important thing to remember with an APU is that it needs to be paired with fast RAM, at least if you plan on doing any gaming. An APU doesn't have built-in memory like a dedicated GPU, so it uses RAM instead. Look for 1866Mhz as a minimum.
