call of dut advanced warfare vs farcry 4 online multiplayer play

AW is way faster than FC4, and if it wasn't for the horrible lag compensation and hybrid netplay infrastructure, it would be probably one of the most skill-based FPSs to date for the franchise (at least IMO).

On the other hand, FC4 may provide a different feeling due to being more open and leaving you some degree of freedom when choosing how to pursue your objective, but the mechanics could feel slightly awkward if you're used to average FPSs. I haven't played it, nor own the game, but looking at videos that's what I feel; I obviously might be just absolutely wrong.

In the end, it's up to what you prefer, which are either a relatively fast-paced arena-like game with exoskeletons or a large-scale-map fight with vehicles, elephants and...

If it depended on me, I'd go AW; it's the usual CoD, it's the same old capitalistic Activision, but at least it's not Ubisoft....

Those are actually two completely different games...They're not even slightly similar, in any aspect, not to mention the fact New Vegas has no online play whatsoever.

You should look for some videos of the games you have in mind and decide for yourself, really, while also documenting yourself on the genre. If you're comparing FC3 to Fallout, your ideas are terribly confused, so it would be best for you to make out exactly what you want and then decide accordingly.

If you want a role playing, open-world counterpart, then shooters in general aren't what you're looking for. As I said, I don't own FC4, but from the looks of some videos, online "PVP" is just the usual run'n'gun; you do gain money although, so I assume it works counterstrike-like, as in you start with a default weapon set, kill people or play the objective to earn money and buy weapons with that money. All those activities are match-limited tho, meaning you'll start again with a basic weapon loadout in a new match and meaning nothing will carry over to single player.

Probably the only game that would fit in and meet your expectations in this case would be Firefall, a free to play MMO shooter which can be played either as a Third Person or as a First Person Shooter. It balances shooting and role-playing neatly enough, and should also have an old fashioned PVP mode.
That, or you should wait for/buy space sims such as Elite: Dangerous, Star Citizen or No Man's Sky, although they're not exactly full fledged shooters...
