What is your budget? There are r9 290's going for around the $250 mark and those cards are much faster and a lot more capable of running higher resolutions. They are all 4gb cards as well with 512bit memory buses. It's worth the extra $20-30 to get one of those IMO.

Alright, my budget is low, 230 euros max. I can get a secondhand 7970 for lower price thats why Im asking. Also Im limited because of my 500W PSU.
What 500w PSU do you have? For a 7970/r9 280x you will need at least a high end, or high quality 550w PSU either way. The GTX960 will most likely run on it though as long as it's a decent power supply.

They recommend 550w, but looking at the chart they show total power consumption with GPU in full stress to be 373w. So your 500w "should" work. I just wouldn't attempt any overclocking with your video card or cpu since that may push you over the limit of what your PSU can handle.

Altright, and If I overclock the 960 would it be faster, or the same as 7970?
