Obviously i5 is ALWAYS better. AMDs FX 8xxx series is NOT 8core. It's 4 physical cores and 4 modules which perform at half speeds and its single-core performance is not good, so you should go for the i5 especially if you're into open-world games.

If it comes to game performance with a dedicated video card, Intel is almost always a better choice. Where AMD excels is in their APUs where the onboard graphics are much faster. They also have a couple processors that are a good bang-for-the-buck for specific situations.
